![]() ![]() It can be quite difficult for people who didn’t grow up with wrestling to really get what’s going on, or – more likely – why it’s so appealing, when it has such a strong element of entertainment rather than unscripted, genuine violence.Īs writer Aubrey Sitterson lays out right from the start of his genuinely absorbing comic book – The Comic Book Story of Professional Wrestling – it’s precisely because of this (for want of a better word) fakery that wrestling is such a hugely entertaining spectacle.Īnd boy is this tome comprehensive. One part that really upset me was the treatment of Grayson’s biological mother. I did, however, appreciate that Aria wasn’t completely healed from it.Ĭontent warning: the next part refers to a sexual assault that resulted in a pregnancy. So many plot points were thrown at us without much closure-a big one relating to the murders of Aria and Noah’s parents. ![]() Thankfully, they both figured it out pretty quickly (relative to the novel). Very rarely does a secret/double/hidden identity work for me, and this was no exception. While the built up of the relationship was sweet, it was hampered by the fact both characters were basically emotionally and physically cheating on each other…with each other-but they didn’t know that. The novel goes downhill for me after that. I loved the relationship the three of them shared, all of them protective, considerate, and caring of the others, their own little family. Grayson was curt and stoic except for when it came to his connection to Aria and Noah. The beginning was absolutely my favorite part. ![]() ![]() As the two catch up, Grayson asks about Noah’s sister Aria, at which point he finds out that she no longer lives with Noah and has moved in with her boyfriend.
